One year ago today, the Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリ) officially opened to the public. Standing 634 meters (2,080 feet), the Skytree is the tallest tower and the second largest structure in the world. The Skytree took four years to build and in the last year alone over 6.3 million people visited the tower—many capturing the experience on Instagram.

There are a million ways to sell yourself out, and I guarantee you’ll hear about them.

Just got back in from watching the Warriors lose (boo) and then got roped into my neighbor’s drinking party in their backyard - where my 3 Chinese working class neighbors who speak like 10 words of English, and my Black neighbors were drinking Margaritas and Hennessey in my Mexican neighbor’s yard!!! And dancing to Tupac and we plotted to kick the cat lady out of our neighborhood and they said they’d get my back! LOL. I LOVE OAKLAND. And this makes me love being from… ESO and rep the dirty thiiiirties hard. [glad i had those two margaritas… and why am I moving to Ohio again? Oh yeah, growth and shit…]
I just did a little test with something called ‘anamorphic typography’. Essentially, it is an illusion where the type looks just right when viewed from the exact right spot, but it looks stretched and warped when viewed from elsewhere in the room. We might be doing something similar in a HOLLY HUNT showrooms later this year, so I did this in a room above my parents’ garage to make sure I could pull it off when the time comes. For what it is worth, I certainly didn’t invent this sort of thing, and I’d like to give lots of credit to this project by Joseph Egan and Hunter Thompson for tipping me off to the idea, as well as the artist Felice Varini, who is doing this sort of thing on a much larger and much more impressive scale.
